“Just be tolerant” is appealing because it defers a hard decision - who is accountable when the AI output is wrong? But that answer has to exist somewhere. If it’s not in a policy, it lives in individual judgment calls made under pressure, inconsistently, with no record. There are two kinds of uncertainty, and only one of them resolves without someone with actual authority making a call.
